Moby Slipping Away

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

Many know this song by the announcement of Optus, and many others would know the album Hotel 2005 on the new compilation or the new version with Eva Amaral. In any case the song is great for those winter days. Enjoy them!
Indeed, if the de movistar do things like their creative than choosing the songs that would be it ...

Julian Opie at the CAC Malaga

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

This morning, flipping through the pages of NEO2 I've been fascinated by a sort of picture that came from this British artist. After visiting your website I'm done falling in love with his work. By the way, your page is impressive, a tribute to the mac.
Julian Opie looking deeper into the subject of human portrayal and realities with stripes schematic and almost minimalist but without losing the essence of people. It uses various formats such as LED screens, sculptures with sound and some surprises. It also uses the movement in his works, using this to inject life into their characters and landscapes.

Opie Some 40 works will be presented from December 15 until March 18 at the CAC Malaga. It is the first time the artist out in Spain, so if you have a chance so stay focused.

Now that is so fashionable to recall the move, I feel obliged to make a small tribute to this special time, not "fashion", but to remember the environment in which I grew from my sister's hand and "my brother". Nor will I have anything special or anything that you have not already heard, what happens is that the other day surfing the net I saw a video (you can see below) which caused me some sadness both the memory of that stage my life, for the lifestyle of society. I say this because last Friday watching a TV show about the fun of the "young" was left to light something many of us already know, the cultural level of much (unfortunately I think a lot) of society, their way of life, principles, values, education ... unfortunate that our sadness is evident in every sphere of life and like it or not, affects us, crashing (bumping them against the remaining (minority)) at each step we take.

This, though many make use of easy to bury insult against 80, is the big difference compared to the great movement that we are in today, because if we simply look at people in the video, we can see, an artist in several disciplines (Fabio), a genius (Peter), a philosophy professor (James) ... and if we go beyond architects (rafa union), composers (mecano) ... and many others that although "lags" abused Certain substances, exercise of histrionics ... had a base, both personally and professionally, and did (with lots of intelligence) they did not because they wanted to know do other things not as they do today with much of our urban tribes.

In my head are some areas of Madrid daily pass in the move that took most authentic, but some fail to reach its pure essence because, as recently PPM (Pablo Perez-Minguez): "The best sites were those built with black money of tardofranquismo reopened, a buzz in three weeks to go to a new one when it came to mass minus the Rock-Ola, for that always remained. There was no competition possible. "

There are a thousand sites, (I refuse to put down a list because every time I pass them over me joy / sadness) The Bobia, disco Carolina ... and disappeared ... and others that still stand the test of "malotes" to remind us that there were better times, such as the Milky Way, Sun Room, The Penta ... but if you want a secret that many do not know, I quote from Fabio to discover the place where everything was hatched ... "I should put a plaque in La Palma , 14, was born there because the move "(the house in Costus (John and Henry), died and decisive couple of painters and designers).

KEY ASPECTS OF THE MOVE:

- Disco Rock-Ola, Father Xifré, 5

- The Bobia. San Millan, 3

- House of Costus, La Palma, 14

- Study of PPM in Montesquinza, 14

- Floor Ceesepe and Alix (Paseo Imperial)

- Casas de Berlanga (Somosaguas) and Bonezzi (Torre de Madrid)

- The Penta. Palma, 4 - Milky Way. Velarde, 18

- Sala Carolina. Bravo Murillo, 202

- The Sun Gardens, 3

- Chancellor Hall. Alcalde López Casero, 15

- Terrace Teide. Castellana, 12

- Photo Vijande. Nunez de Balboa, 65

- Galería Moriarty. Vergara, 12

- Studies of TVE (La Edad de Oro, La Bola de Cristal ...)

- Drafting of Madrid me Mata. Good Fortune, 24

Robots In Disguise

Well here you have it, my last pleasant discovery through a friend-of-blog ... sophie ... a Mexican muy chida ... by the way ... I am increasingly involved in Mexican and trends are to take them seriously, are close to those of Madrid nightlife ... and will do a post about this interesting movement of our Mexican friends, want to go.

These two Londoners, Sue and Dee, even though his haircut for fashion-punk and green quilted aluminized shirts and red, it might appear they are a group that abuses of synthesizers to remind bands' songs eighties, and we go beyond discover that the lofi, pop punk and mix well with electronics and give a good account of this in his records, not yet distributed in Spain. In case you want to order (not download) know that Splinter Recordings, the label of Chris Corner of Sneaker Pimps distributes its mini-album "Mix up words and sounds". His album is found on the French label Recall. The sound of these artists can be compared to Stereolab, Kraftwerk, Raincoats, Bowie, Lush and Gary Numan.

They have been relatively recently in Spain and their live is highly recommended. At least I think a good dose of fresh air and a very attractive bet, but this is a personal opinion and I really have to say I have fallen in grace ... VERY ... I love his style, his music, they ... all ...
