Like many'll be watching for a week in most feeds, it is said that gmail is enabling IMAP (I had to put gmail in English to see it in settings). The basic difference between POP3 and IMAP is that while with the first messages are stored on the devices, with the second stay at the mail server.
This is interesting, we often manage mail from our terminal and from the pc interchangeably. Surely you've ever updated your mail on your phone and emails have disappeared, could also be interesting also for common mailbox, etc..
