Nokia E61: Blackberry Vs RealMail

January 12th, 2007 | by Operator

I think that when you decide to buy this terminal, is generally to manage mail. In fact when he left he was nicknamed as the blackberry killer.

Once purchased the phone the main question that arises is that online mail client choice. In this post going to comment 2, blackberry (movistar) and Royal Mail (vodafone), we could not get the BB service which Vodafone would have been ideal for comparison.

Blackberry

Possibly the most popular figures on the market. It offers the ability to simultaneously manage 10 accounts and its price is about 12 to € 25 depending on the pricing plan, promotions, etc.. We recommend that you consult your operator.

Installation:

Once hired the services that we have with the operator. We must first install the client in the E61 once the installation on the terminal must go to the Web enabled by our carrier and create an account. For the high we need to enter IMEI Pin and get it on the client already installed in the terminal, we will finally enable the recognition and wireless receive a confirmation SMS. We will know that the service is activated because an icon with 4 points in the upper right.

Account Management and Web:

Blackberry allows you to synchronize up to 10 mail accounts into a single tray. On top of the accounts is managed through the web and we requested the data generic mail server to be able to speak well and to receive the mails in real time.

If we have another terminal to support BB can use the same subscription, but must return to the site to change the data in the device (Pin and IMEI). Personally I think this is a little tedious and not very functional, although at least gives the option.

Web management of BB is pretty complete. Set the signature that we want it to appear at the end of our couriers.

Choose the direction that we want to respond by default, filters, automatic responses, and so on.

Management Mails:

The management of mails is relatively good, allows:

- Paragraph CCO

- Priority

- Hide CC

- Choice of Search

- Options impressions

The only fault is that the BB of movistar is not allowed to receive and send attachments. Something utterly incomprehensible. It seems that the vodafone if that lets you send and receive, though so I have some users are having problems with certain file extensions.

The response from the server is at about 2-10 minutes, although in most cases usually takes less than a minute.

Royal Mail

This online mail service is offered exclusively in Spain by Vodafone. It is actually a custom version of the Vodafone customer for Visto. The basic service allows synchronization of a single email account in real time, but you can associate more consulted and the service accounts via the web.

Prices vary depending on the plan that we have a voice, around 12 to 25 €. See page of the operator.

Installation:

The installation is simpler than that in BB, once downloaded the application for nokia, we must turn to the Web vodafone and enter a phone number and password. Enter the data of the account you want to synchronize and ready.

In implementing the E61 just put the phone and password and is automatically configured. In contrast to BB does not have any representative icon, just know that you are connected by the connection icon own 3G or GPRS phone.

Something interesting is that you can instalarel the client in several terminals and sevicio operate at the terminal where we have put the sim.

Account management and Web

The management of the website is very simple, so simple that many will miss fewer options, including setting the goal of signing. By default, all of our couriers carry advertising in the terminal that we have put in the sim.

Management mails

The options are more limited than in BB but has the basic functions:

- Mark

- Search

- Sort

- Allows you to send and receive attachments

- Do not allow links at reception

The server response is slightly slower than BB, but we must bear in mind that the tests have been made with movistar (BB), vodafone (real mail). To all this must be added the continuing impact of service that has been taking vodafone.

Conclusions

In the general service of BB is higher, but if we lost our operator is movistar and need for attachments. In this case we should resort to another manager post.

Royal Mail allows you to manage successfully send and receive attachments, although the basic version of the service is too limited in many respects.

Frankly, I think that both services are very poor for the monthly fee that is charged. But the ill-fated bid for Spanish operators we have few alternatives for which mail is important.

I hope you let your views if you use any of these services!

    Good:

I am a customer of BB long time. With the terminal BB 7230 I have not had a single problem. The setup is very easy (in fact, the PIN i and the IMEI you come into the terminal without having to install anything else) and receiving mails is almost (I say almost) instant if you disable the option to "delete messages on server" Our mail server usual.

The theme changes if we use a terminal that is not BB. The experience I have is a 9300 and I'm so burned that I wonder happen to other mobile messaging service. It is impossible to receive mails more than two hours without any hang the terminal or something unusual happens. For me, the worst decision I have taken a long time ... And Movistar wash their hands as saying that BB is not developed specifically for use with Nokia, for "garlic and water" ...

Anyway. One of lime and sand for this service. I have no clear its compatibility with other terminals that are not BB.

Westy thank you very much, sure that this view is very interesting for many users. I suppose it also has had problems with attachments!

I think it's a shame that charging what they charge, to a service so sad.

It seems that people have seen since the batteries in the new version 5.5.06 and not only gave him a face wash to the interface of realmail vodafone, but now we can also synchronize over an online account. I have synchronized 4, so I guess it may be up to 10.

And I'll leave you more impressions

My experience has been that after acquiring the terminal from Nokia E61 and hire the service of bb vodafone, I could not set it, because Vodafone does not support the service with bb this terminal, they tell me that I can only use it with realmail.
I honestly do not understand how vodafone in the specifications of the terminal and on the website (when you buy the terminal, now no longer) indicated that it is compatible with blacberry.
I have a server linked to exchange corporate bb and I gain nothing the realmail, but Vodafone and Nokia have denied me any support or help with the blackberry service (either manual or client software, etc). And that we are a large customer account vodafone and I am a member of the club nokia.
Definitely I am very disappointed with these two companies and their advertising.
If ultimately advance what you'll do something more to know.
    A greeting.

BB normal if it works, I guess that the corporate tereferirás. Vodafone as well as other companies spend more on advertising than in the technical qualifications.
Just get out a new version for exchange of mail, but do not know if there is no way to have it online.
Another alternative is to use the professional service of seven, http://alwaysonmail.com supports lotus and exchange, also got trial test, take a look at what you can best serve.

    A greeting!

I recently purchased an E61 and I am going to hire BB morning instead of Royal Mail for 25 € because I have a flat rate with no download limit and with real mail I have a maximum of 15MB, I speak from sailing because in the post as commercial vodafone q I've sold more significant was the q difference with BB but I can not download attachments and edit them with Royal Mail if I can edit them. For me it does not matter because the issue of what q receipt attachments are files with patterns of work and therefore I do not have to change them and if the limit in terms of navigation that's why they're not thinking in terms I will melt if I'm more or less time online.

Black with a Reuben Berry navigation with the Nokia E61 does not come, this is only the terminals with BB. I say this with all certainty, the access point blackberry serves only to download mail, but forget about navigation, this point has no access to the Internet.

Call vodafone and watch you confirm this, be careful with this because the shock can lead you can be good!

    Now tell us a greeting!
