Paul Coulton Forum Nokia Blog in collaboration with Zhang Lei, has developed an application that allows visually identify buildings and sites, so-called Points of Interest (POI), shown on a map.

The application is called Point'n'Seek and is capable, in a terminal Symbian with Google Maps Street View, to make such identification while using multiple sensors such as GPS, electronic compass (found in the Nokia 6210 Navigator) and the accelerometer, this could already do with Google Maps Street View on the HTC G1, the first mobile phone equipped with Google Android operating system.

Point'n'Seek has the following options:

  • Perform a scan of the area.
  • Search POIs.
  • Define the range of the search.
  • Through Snapshot feature can limit tracing to a particular area or region toward which we move the mobile.

At the moment the application is not yet available and the version tested in the video still is not definitive, which is able to use the electronic compass, but use one that suited for use with the joypad, in this case with a Nokia N85 .

The publication of the application with more options, according to the developers of it, is expected to be available within short.
